Race day outfit? Sorted. Tickets? Ready. Now for the big question: how do you get to Sepang International Circuit for the F1 race without getting stuck in a long traffic queue? For this weekend from October 2 to 4, 2026, the easiest public transport plan from Kuala Lumpur is to take an LRT or another rail service to an Express Rail Link (ERL) station, then board the free event shuttle to the circuit.
Read on for the route details and tips to help you arrive on time.
From Kuala Lumpur
If you’re starting in the city center, make your way to KL Sentral first. You can get there by LRT, MRT, Monorail, KTM Komuter, bus, or e-hailing.
- Take an LRT, MRT, or other train service to an ERL connection.
- Ride the KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit to KLIA Terminal 2.
- At Terminal 2, follow the F1 event signs to the Transportation Hub, also called the Express Bus Terminal, on Level 1.
- Join the free shuttle bus queue for Sepang International Circuit.
The shuttle buses are scheduled to operate from 7:00 a.m. to midnight during the race weekend. Leave early, especially if you’re aiming to catch the first track sessions. Queues and road traffic can build up quickly on race days.

Which route should you take from each LRT line?
Kelana Jaya Line
- Ride to KL Sentral.
- Follow the signs to the ERL station.
- Take the KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit to KLIA Terminal 2.
- Follow the event signs to the Level 1 Transportation Hub and board the shuttle to the circuit.
Ampang Line
- Ride to Masjid Jamek.
- Change to the Kelana Jaya Line and take a train toward Gombak to KL Sentral.
- Transfer to the ERL and continue to KLIA Terminal 2.
- Follow the signs to the F1 shuttle pickup point.
Sri Petaling Line
You have two useful ways to connect:
- Via Bandar Tasik Selatan: Get off at Bandar Tasik Selatan, follow the signs to the ERL station, then take the KLIA Transit to KLIA Terminal 2. From there, board the circuit shuttle.
- Via Masjid Jamek and KL Sentral: Ride to Masjid Jamek, change to the Kelana Jaya Line toward Gombak, then continue to KL Sentral. Transfer to the ERL for KLIA Terminal 2.
If you’re closer to Bandar Tasik Selatan, that interchange may save you a trip into the city centre. Check the station signs carefully when changing trains, as the LRT and ERL platforms are separate.
Coming from the MRT Putrajaya Line?

If you’re staying near the MRT Putrajaya Line, you can connect at Putrajaya Sentral.
- Take the MRT Putrajaya Line to Putrajaya Sentral.
- Follow the signs to the KLIA Transit station.
- Ride to KLIA Terminal 2.
- Head to the Level 1 Transportation Hub and take the F1 shuttle to Sepang International Circuit.
This can be handy if you’re staying around Putrajaya or along the Putrajaya Line and don’t want to travel into central Kuala Lumpur first.
Shuttle pick-up points for the F1 race
Choose the pick-up point that best fits your journey:
- KLIA Terminal 2: Level 1 bus hub
- Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA: Mitsui KLIA bus hub
- Bandar Baru Enstek: De-Village, Persiaran Millenia 2
The shuttle service is free. Follow event signage and staff instructions at your pick-up point, and leave extra time for queues and traffic around the circuit.
Tips to make the journey easier
- Start earlier than you think you need to. A smooth train ride doesn’t mean the shuttle queue or traffic will be quick.
- Keep your ticket and travel details handy. You may need them as you move between the station, shuttle queue, and circuit entrance.
- Follow event signs and staff directions. They’ll help you find the correct shuttle bay.
- Plan your return before the race ends. Large crowds leave around the same time, so expect queues for the shuttle back to the airport.
- Check the last-train timetable for your return journey. The shuttle’s operating hours and the rail services’ schedules are not the same.
- Bring water and dress for the weather. You may be waiting outdoors, and race-day heat can catch you off guard.
Getting to Sepang International Circuit by public transport takes a little planning, but the train-and-shuttle route keeps you out of much of the race-day driving stress. Set off early, save your shuttle stop, and you’ll have more time to soak up the F1 atmosphere once you arrive.
