The Bottletop Foundation was launched in 2002 by Cameron Saul and his father Roger (Founder of British luxury brand Mullberry) through a design collaboration with Mullberry. The first bags were made from recycled bottle tops in Africa and lined with Mulberry leather in Europe. Bottletop co-director Oliver Wayman discovered a stunning chain mail bag in Brazil, featuring an incredibly lightweight material consisting of up cycled aluminium ring pulls held together by crotchet. The Bottletop Fashion Company funds the operations of the Foundation that tackles delicate teenage health issues such as AIDS, drug abuse or teenage pregnancy in Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Brazil and the UK. The production of Bottletop bags and accessories, based on the principles of fair trade, support local artisans and their families in Brazil.
